tail flag: When a deer raises its tail to warn other deer of danger.
trigger: The part of a gun that start the firing process; usually levers pulled by the index finger.
trigger pull: The amount of energy required to move the trigger so the hammer drives the firing into the round.
ungulates: Any mammal with hooves.
Upland Hunter (UH): A United Kennel Club / Hunting Retriever Club title given to dogs that attain 40 Upland Hunter Championship points.
venison: Deer meat.
vomolfaction: A unique sense deer possess. The male sucks a doe's urine and uses its vomeronasal gland to determine if the doe is close to breeding season. The buck then spits out the urine.
wapiti: Elk.
Working Retriever (WR): A North American Hunting Retriever Association title. If a dog can pass the test they can be considered competent hunting dogs.
